The behavior that human beings abide by is called social norm. It is regarded as something that the most of people in the culture believes and should abide by, so that we know how to act and react correctly in the social interaction situation. Human have evolved a mechanism for detecting norm violations. The individual's judgment on the appropriateness of social norm includes in perceiving other’s mental states (theory of mind), and it also differs with the intervention aspects in the social context. Therefore, in this study we mainly focused on evaluating whether such as affective theory of mind and cognitive theory of mind were affected social norm violation judgments. The two different functions of theory of mind with different intervention of time, which may relate to two different processes, also exploring the role of anxiety in social norm violation judgments. As a result, preconceived intention intervention both affective and cognitive theory of mind were significant affected in terms of the judgments of the appropriateness, the negative emotion is more unacceptable than the positive one. There is also a significant difference in consistency of intentions and behaviors, and it is even more unacceptable when intentions are inconsistent with behavior. However, only cognitive theory of mind in attributed violation intentions was found to affect in the judgments of the appropriateness of norm violations. Also, the intervention of theory of mind is related to reducing anxiety in social situations.
