中文摘要 研發技術為企業持續開發新產品、維持獲利,並領先競爭者不可或缺的能力,因此企業技術策略的訂定與管理亦日趨重要。適當的研發資金投入與正確的研發技術策略,可幫助企業獲得較高的技術優勢,進而提升其在市場之獨特競爭能力。
雖然多數企業與學者認為面對當今產業環境,技術策略朝向擁有技術多樣性是必然的趨勢,但是對技術多樣性與企業價值間關係沒有一致定論。多數學者相信技術多樣性與企業績效存在正向關係,但是仍有部分學者抱持不同的看法,強調企業必須具有一定規模時,技術多樣性才能對企業帶來助益。
本研究試圖了解技術多樣性對市場價值、專利價值等的影響,深入探討三者彼此間關係;再加入研發密集度於技術多樣性對專利價值影響之干擾效果,分析不同企業研發密集度差異所造成之影響。
研究結果發現專利價值對市場價值有正向影響;而提升技術多樣性對專利價值與市場價值皆有幫助。再者專利價值對於技術多樣性提升市場價值具中介效果。而較高的研發密集度可使技術多樣性對專利價值的提升有加乘的效果。研究結果大致符合本研究的假設。
最後,在研究密集型的產業中,若技術多樣性較高的企業擁有較高的研發密集度時,能有效避免研發資源過於分散的現象,提升技術多樣性對專利價值所產生的效益,在其產業中研發密集度的正向干擾效果較一般產業更為強烈。
英文摘要 The Research and Development (R&D) technology is critical for an enterprise to develop new products, get profitability, and gain the leading position in the market; therefore how to set and run the technical strategy is very important for a successful company. The R&D expenditure and the right technology strategy can help the companies to achieve higher technical advantages and enhance its competitiveness in the market.
Although many researchers believe that technological diversity and firm performance are positively correlated, however some researchers hold different ideas. They emphasize that companies must have sufficient scales, so that technological diversity can benefit firm’s performance.
This research mainly tries to understand the effects of technological diversity on the market value and patent value, and investigate the relationships among these three variables. We highlight R&D intensity as a moderator of the relationship between technological diversity and patent value.
The result of this research indicates that patent value and market value are positively correlated. The result also indicates that higher level of technological diversification can brings more market value and patent value for a company. Furthermore, we find that the patent value has a mediating effect on the relationship between technological diversity and market value. R&D intensity positively moderates the relation between technological diversity and patent value in this study. The results are generally consistent with the hypothesis in this thesis.
Finally, in research-intensive industries, if the enterprises have the characterisctics of high technological diversity and high level of R&D intensity can effectively avoid scattering the R&D resources and enhance the positive relationship between technological diversity and patent value. So R&D intensity has a stronger positive moderating effect in research-intensive industries than the other industries.
