It is not easy to regulate the role of the traditional market which with respect to the cultural connotation in the historical area from the past development to the present, even in the future. On the issue of the preservation and regeneration, the subject in the historical area under the cultural heritage preservation, especially with respect to software operation which is not only the most fundamental in the living culture and close to the human interaction relationship, but also not easy for us to care from the cultural side as a modern humans.
Therefore, this study has the key points as followed, firstly, analysis on the characters of cultural connotations between the traditional market and the modern market. Secondly, on the point of view of the regeneration of historical area, it is an important subject to understand what role the traditional market can play, also discuss the business planning on the traditional market form the theory to the case studies, I expect that this study could be helpful to the regeneration of historical area in Tainan. Thirdly, to discuss what rule the traditional markets of Tainan city can play in the historical area regeneration form the concept of the “eco-museum” and the perspective of living culture operation. Finally, discuss the existing traditional markets for the principle of future planning by means of those information, questions and characters.
The results of this study are as follow:
Firstly, in the development of the Tainen historical areas, the way to preserve the building and the environment is usually dominated by the public sectors. However, the traditional markets cannot be operated under the Cultural Heritage Preservation Act, it needs to find other ways to improve the environment. The traditional markets operated under the concept of “eco-museum” which combines the improvement methods between the public sectors and vendors can not only resolve facing the present problems, but also train the residents to find the itsl identity to shape the local characteristics.
Secondly, the preservation and regeneration of the traditional markets are closely related to our surroundings. On the concept of “eco-museum’, not only the collection, preservation, records, research, display, learning with respect to the traditional museum have direct influence on the culture preservation of the traditional markets, but also emphasize the participation of the residents.
The traditional markets are considered to be the most representative of activities under those resident’s lives, the format and connotation of the traditional markets are also different from before as time changes. The meaning of the value on dong-caishi eco-museum is not only retrieving the original traditional market culture connotation, but still continues changing. Referring to the local “Food” culture, it also be a local cultural characteristics under the traditional market environment.
