Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlations between indices of training load and exercise performance, which were acquired from the wearable device. Method: (1) Participant: One voluntary male long-distance runner (45 years old; 188cm; 81kg). (2) Experimental design: The participant is encouraged to wear a wearable device whole day for one year. An additional sensor (Running dynamics pod, Garmin, Taiwan) for measuring running index is required to wear on during running training. (3) Statistics methods: Stepwise regression was used to analyze the correlations between training load indices and running performance. Result: Indices of training load (e.g. training load, accumulated running distance or accumulated time of high heart rate) are significant correlations with various running performance indices (e.g. vertical oscillation, strike frequency, strike length and heart rate normalized by running speed) Conclusion: This study verified the relationship between training load indices and runners' performance indices. It’s recommended that various indices of training load should be included in wearable devices management system in purpose of further understanding the training adaptations and predicting running performance.
