Urban Port is the subject of this design project. Through a search for the interplay between the nature of urban port, site environmental context, and the atmosphere of traffic connection field, to build a spatial shaping threshold. This paper consists of four parts:
1, Nature of Port: the definition of port; what a port wants to be; heterogeneity and joint in one space.
2, Extensive Interpretation: Readings of gathering/leaving, wait/hope, perspective, urban square, and theater. Taiwanese folksongs, literature and drama, theology, and historical building studies are also touched, as a clue or a trail to look for space essence.
3, Environmental Fabric: context and development vision of Cijin Hamasen, site analysis, and the structure of building space.
4, Form Shaping: from the realization of stage/performers, to see/to be seen, place/ boundary to the shaping of this design project, my personal insight on concept and on representation are also included.
Architectural design must start from the exploring of building nature, then to a realization of the essence of space, then to the creation of a unique/meaningful space.
