Due to the recent impact of the U.S.-China trade war, the business environment has changed drastically. In order to overcome these challenges, enterprises may need to adjust the inter-organizational relationships accordingly. However, the knowledge of dynamics relationships management is still insufficient.
From the IMP Perspective, this research explores how enterprises manage the network position, reconfiguring its structure under the interdependence of business network, for the purpose of achieving a stable growth. This study adopts qualitative research method. A synthetic rubber material company that has been established for 30 years is selected as case study. Therefore, a cross-sectional relationship management which differs from a static one is also proposed.
The case first illustrates the causes and consequences of the dynamics of network. Secondly, it explains the importance for enterprise in network management to strive for a balance between positive and negative interdependence in both relationship level and firm level respectively, revealing the means of value creation and appropriation in co-operation and competition. In addition, to maintain stable growth, enterprises need to develop their manipulation skills and adaptation capabilities through the continuous management of dynamic network.
