In recent years, Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that eight of the ten
leading causes of death are chronic diseases in Taiwan. If people are suffering from
chronic diseases for a long time, it will not only cause physical and emotional
discomfort but also affect the patient’s daily activities and quality of life. In addition,
with advances in technology and improvement of education, patients desire to seek
health information before clinical encounters. The most important thing is that
patients also need to put Effort in Value Co-creation Activities (EVCA) and exert to
integrate resources aimed at improving quality of life and satisfaction on health care
service. However, not all patients are willing and have ability to engage in co-creation
with health care provider and professional medical staff.
This research was proposed to study the correlation of information seeking, effort in
value co-creation activities, quality of life and satisfaction in chronic patients.
Randomly invited chronic patients must be over 18 years old and could fill in the
questionnaire anonymously. Furthermore, the number of valid samples are 201. This
evidence-based study showed there was a positive effect of information seeking, and
effort in value co-creation activities (EVCA) with quality of life and satisfaction.
However, there was only the adjustment effect of EVCA outside clinic and
doctor-patient relationship on quality of life in the study of doctor-patient relationship
on EVCA outside clinic and quality of life. Finally, based on the results, this study
provided appropriate recommendations for management practice and references for
health authorities and medical institution managers to evaluate management
strategies.
