Have a wayfinding in a strange environment is everyone's common experience. With map, we can find out the solution to solve wayfinding problem from the information provided by the map. This study will explore the relationship between information content and wayfinding performance. Through the participant observation method and think aloud protocols method, to observe map users’ behaviour of map information using and the relevance between map information and wayfinding performance. The analysis results were obtained by protocol analysis coding. The results of this research prove that the user's information content is not an important factor affecting wayfinding performance; there is no absolute positive correlation between spatial ability and wayfinding performance; when participants with different spatial ability seeks the way in the map information, they will select the same map information elements to find the way; wayfinding behavior of the different spatial ability participants will have the same wayfinding strategy and similarity wayfinding behavior.
