中文摘要 本研究旨在探討員工失業擔憂程度與企業內部資金配置效率之關係,文中使用1977年至2014年美國上市公司資料,並以美國失業救濟金作為員工失業擔憂的代理變數。本文預期員工失業擔憂程度越高,企業內部資金配置效率越低,實證結果發現,員工失業擔憂與內部資金配置效率呈負向關係,符合預期,代表當員工失業擔憂程度增加,可能造成公司內部報告透明度降低,使高階管理人員容易做出錯誤分配資源的決策,導致公司內部資金配置無效率。
英文摘要 This paper focuses on the relationship between unemployment concerns and internal capital allocation efficiency in conglomerate firms. We use a sample of U.S. conglomerate firms over the period 1977-2014 in this study, and the natural log of the maximum amount of unemployment benefits provides a proxy for unemployment concerns. We expect unemployment benefits to improve internal communications, and the quality of information flows, between divisions and headquarters, resulting in increased internal capital allocation efficiency. The empirical results show that internal capital allocation is less efficient for firms with more unemployment concerns.
