中文摘要 IEEE 802.16是一種無線寬頻都會型網路的標準。它提供了許多特點,其中一個是MAC層的QoS分類。為了確保QoS的要求,802.16的BS(Base station)和SS(Subscriber station)都必須要有一些演算法將資源分配給Connections。然而,頻寬要求是由SS裡的每條Connection各別傳送,但是BS將分配好的上傳頻寬全部相加後告訴SS。因為這種多層的頻寬要求/分配機制,使得SS也要有自己的排程演算法將資源再次分配給它的Connections。這裡針對傳送SVC(Scalable Video Coding)視訊提出了一套BS和SS的資源分配機制,其中還包括了實體層的AMC(Adaptive modulation and coding)。
英文摘要 The IEEE 802.16 is a standard for broadband wireless communication in Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN). It introduces several advantages, one of which is the support for QoS at the MAC level. To ensure meeting the QoS requirements, the 802.16 BS (base station) and SS (subscriber station) must run some algorithm to allocate resource between connections. While bandwidth is requested by an SS per each connection, the BS grants uplink bandwidth to an SS as a whole. Due to this hybrid nature of the request/grant mechanism, an SS also has to implement locally a scheduling algorithm to redistribute the granted capacity to all of its connections. We propose the resource allocation mechanism in BS and SS to transmit Scalable Video Coding (SVC) traffic with adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) in physical layer.
