To explore current space planning condition at self-expense elder residence and the discrepancy with existing regulations, this study collected nine self-expense elder residences to perform statistical analysis on its internal space, and charted the data initially collected into CAD drawings. The nine elder residences, there’re Ruen Fu Newlife in Danshuei, Yangming Senior Citizen Apartment, Wuku Senior Citizen Apartment, Shuanglian Elderly House in Sanjhih Township, Chang Gung Health and Culture Village in Sijhih in the north, and Kangning Healthcare Home, Evergreen Apartment in Tainan City, Youren Hills in Guanmiao, and Senior Citizens' Apartments of Fongshan City, Kaohsiung County in the south. Calculated all space areas and classified space for statistics respectively, and perceived the environment and charge of the nine elder residences during the procedure of investigation and explored the ratio of all space and whether it affects the charge.
Distance from bedroom to elevator and stair to discuss whether the walk distance is the same as that of ordinary people. Cluster group relationship is the element of the interaction among elders, analyzed standard story, and took lounge as the cluster group site to know and compare the basic cluster group household numbers with the regulated household numbers stipulated by existing regulations (Elder Residence Chapter of Building Technique Regulation).
This study divided the space in elder residence into six parts, bedroom, transportation, recreation, auxiliary space, medical healthcare, and administration. The latter five items belonged to public space, and after statistics, the bedroom area accounted for 48%, transportation accounted for 29%, recreation accounted for 10%, auxiliary space accounted for 5%, medical healthcare accounted for 2%, and administration accounted for 6% in the whole areas, bedroom and public space took half of the whole areas in the building respectively.
This study classified the nine elder residences as rural style and urban style and made comparison, to analyze both of them and obvious discrepancy was found, except for investigating basic areas and ratios, ground plan of all elder residences are drawn for the reference of planning and designation.
