中文摘要 企業在追求成長時,多角化往往是其中一個策略選項,以資源基礎說的角度,資源多元化有助於人們激發出創新的點子,這創新的點子,往往是公司追求突破、價值成長時,不可或缺的一項要素。然而創新可以有許多表示方式,其中兼具可攻可守的表達方式,則以專利為最佳。因此本研究之目的在探討,公司多角化後,是否能提升創意產出 “ 專利 ”,並同時研究多角化對專利的質與量上,是否有影響。研究發現整體來說,公司進行多角化是有助於提升創新之量。但在創新的品質方面,在不同的條件下,結果較為不一致。如在競爭程度較低的產業中,多角化能產生更多的質與量兼具專利;然而在競爭程度較高的產業中,專注化策略反而能帶來較佳的專利品質。
英文摘要 Diversification is one of important strategy of growth for modern firms. According resource-based theory, multiple resource can help people figure out some innovative ideas. Sometime this ideas is the key of corporation growth. There are lots of ways to measure innovation. In this literature, we use the output of innovation, patent and citation as the innovation variable. The purpose of this study discuss whether corporation diversification can raise up the output of innovation. Overall, the study shows that diversification can help firm raising the volume of patent. For patent quality, there are different result under different condition. For example, under uncompetitive market, firm with diversification can increase the volume and quality of patent. However, under competitive market, focus strategy is better option for firm to increase the patent quality.
